The Pantawid pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is a flagship program of the national government on poverty reduction and social development. It provides conditional cash grant to extremely poor households, to improve their health, nutrition and education particularly children aged 0-14. It also invests on human capital to break the inter-generational cycle of poverty among poor households.

Objectives of the Program:
1.    To improve the preventive health care among pregnant women and their children
2.    To increase the enrollment in and attendance rate of children in school
3.    To reduce the incidence of child labor
4.    To raise the average consumption rate in food expenditure of poor households
5.    To encourage parents to invest in their children’s human capital through investment in health and nutrition, education and participation in community activities.

The Municipality of Dinalupihan was targeted as one of the beneficiaries on the last quarter of 2009 thru the expansion program of DSWD Regional Office 3, targeting 500 poor households from five (5) barangays, namely, Bangal, Roosevelt, Pita, Pagalanggang and Tucop. The selection of barangays and family beneficiaries for the said program came from the result of the Proxy Means Test (PMT) that determines the socio-economic category of families, using the result National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction Program of the DSWD as Data base.

The DSWD Regional Staff together with the MSWDO and Mayor Joel Jaime P. Payumo conducted general assembly meeting within the five targeted barangays to orient the beneficiaries about the program and its conditionality’s.

To date the DSWD thru its Regional Office had already released a total amount of P 7, 243,400.00 for the period of November 2009 to February 2011. Subsequent payments will be done on a quarterly basis thru the use of cash cards which issued on May 31, 2011.

The program will last for about 5 years and it is expected for each and every family to become self reliant and contributing member of their respective communities.
